Michele Jean-Gilles, Ph.D.
Dr. Jean-Gilles is the founding psychologist of Our Children Our Future Inc (OCOF). She is also a supervising psychologist at OCOF providing supervision to
Licensed Mental Health Counselors and Psychology interns. She is a Research Associate Professor in the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work of Florida International University.
Her clinical interests include the provision of mental health services to immigrant families, acculturation processes in first and second immigrants, and systemic family therapy. She has expertise in conducting group and family interventions for HIV / AIDS infected and affected individuals, and has published extensively in this area.
Dr. Jean-Gilles is currently an investigator on several NIH-funded studies designed to reduce HIV risk among vulnerable populations of adolescents, families , and adults in South Florida, Africa , and the Caribbean. Dr. Jean-Gilles was also a Health Disparities Scholar for the National Center on Minority Health & Health Disparities.
Jerry Breslin, Esq. - Board Member
Jerrell Breslin graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1975 with a BS degree in Economics and Business. He attained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami in 1978. He then worked as an Assistant Public Defender in Miami-Dade County, Florida, where
he tried over 60 jury trials to verdict.
Since leaving the Public Defender’s Office, he focused his practice on civil and criminal trial litigation and commercial and corporate transactions. Jerry currently focuses his practice on trial litigation, whether civil, administrative or criminal, commercial and corporate transactions, litigated family law matters, appellate practice and Florida Bar regulatory and disciplinary matters.
Jerry is very actively involved in charitable and civic causes. For the past 14 years, he has been the Executive Director of the Friends of the Drug Court, Inc., a 501c3 charity that supports the Miami Dade Drug Court and is actively involved in programs that address and support alcohol and drug abuse recovery.
Richard Baron, Esq. - Board Member
Since 1980, Richard Baron has been the managing principal of the Law Firm of Richard Baron, Esq., Baron, Breslin & Sarmiento, Attorneys at Law, The DuPont Building, Suite 700, 169 East Flagler Street, Miami, Florida 33131. Richard was born on 10/27/45 in New York, NY. He is married to Nikki Baron and has three children - Nicole Goldner, Katherine Baron, and Steven Baron, 25.
Mr. Baron graduated in 1967 from the American University with a B.A. in
Government and Public Administration and attained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of New York at Buffalo, School of Law, in 1970. Mr. Baron was admitted New York Bar in 1970 and Florida Bar 1974. His employment history includes being a Trial Attorney with the Department of the Treasury 1970-1974 and Greenberg Traurig 1974-1979.
Richard has over thirty years of litigation experience in Federal and State courts throughout Florida involving commercial and transactional matters, family law matters, Florida Bar disciplinary matters, and criminal matters. Mr. Baron has been appointed numerous times as a Guardian Ad Litem to assist Family Court Judges in difficult cases with alcohol and drug issues and was honored by the Eleventh Judicial Circuit as the “Guardian ad Litem of the Year” in 2009.
Richard is the founder and has been the President of the Friends of the Drug Court, Inc., (FODC) since its inception in 2003. The Friends of the Drug Court, Inc., is a 501( c) (3) charitable organization that raises and contributes in excess of $400,000.00 annually to the support of the Miami-Dade County, Florida Drug Court as well as to education and housing grants to the participants of the Drug Court.
As an experienced trial lawyer, Richard has represented hundreds of clients with drug and alcohol problems on a pro bono
basis. He has been appointed numerous times as a Guardian Ad Litem to assist Family Court Judges in difficult cases with alcohol and drug issues, always without compensation.
Marie Goodrum Johnson - Board Member
As a resident of Pompano Beach, FL, Marie Goodrum Johnson retired from the Broward County School System in June 2010. She worked at Pinewood Elementary School in the North Lauderdale area.
Marie began her career in the school system in 1994 as an elementary teacher for 16 years and as an elementary school administrator for 20 years.
She attended Albany State University in Albany, GA, where she earned a BS degree in Elementary Education in 1974. She also received her Master's degree in Elementary Education in 1978 from George State University in Atlanta, GA. In 1980, she earned an Educational Specialist degree in the area of Educational Leadership from Nova University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Marie served as a board member since the inception of "Our Children Our Future Inc." Ms. Veronica James is the founder and CEO of the organization.
Marie Goodrum Johnson is also a member of several boards within the City of Pompano Beach as well as organizations that benefit children like Stephanies Boys and Girls Clubs. She served as a Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis Division 23, 2016-2017.
Since retiring from the Broward County School System, Marie is presently volunteering at elementary schools. Her lifetime goal is to better the community through reaching back and serving others.
Our mission - Our Children Our Future Inc (OCOF) is a private non-profit Community Behavioral Health Agency that was created out of the need to provide comprehensive culturally and linguistically competent services to children, adolescents, and families. OCOF was particularly designed to reunify families and provide services to children who deal with:
- Serious emotional disorders
- Child abuse
- Neglect and abandonment
- Acculturation and emotional stressors
Alberto Mujica – Board Member
Mr. Mujica is a lawyer, systems engineer, and data scientist. Mr. Mujica holds an LLB from the University of Barcelona, a Juris Doctor and a Master’s from Nova Southeastern University, an LLM from University of
California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems from Florida Tech.
Currently Mr. Mujica is the Chairman and CEO for M3N, Inc., a commercial real estate investment company.
Mr. Mujica was in business in the IT industry for more than 15 years. In that industry, Mr. Mujica became intimately familiar with networks, programming, databases, cybersecurity, data warehousing, business intelligence, data privacy, and data analytics. Further, Mr. Mujica took part in the development of several successful IT and real estate ventures and businesses and has been the consultant in several mergers and acquisitions.
In law, Mr. Mujica is familiar with the legal and technological aspects of intellectual property, corporate transactions, venture capital, trademarks, copyright, patents, data privacy, software, blockchain, software, cybersecurity, and GDPR compliance.
