I, Dr. Amabel Quiñones, earned my Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from Carlos Albizu University in Puerto Rico. Since 2002 I have been working in diverse outpatient settings including private practice, private and public-school systems, and Early Head Start programs helping children and their families. I have been working with OCOF since 2018. My clinical work focusses on providing evidence-based assessment and treatment for children and adolescents. Also provides psychoeducation to parents in order to understand and manage effectively their children's social and emotional needs. I have experience treating a variety of concerns ranging from behavioral problems, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, parent skills training, and relationship issues. I primarily practice cognitive behavioral therapy. Through the understanding that feelings and emotions stem from an individual's interpretation of events, therapy is directed to identify unhelpful thinking styles and how they may generate distressing emotions and maladaptive behaviors. I have experience providing infant mental health services for children between the ages of 0-5. I provide assessment and treatment of young children focused on strengthening parent-child relationships, teaching coregulation skills, and improving their social and emotional development. I am a member of The Florida Association of Infant Mental Health.
